At the end of 2024 – our first full calendar year in downtown Oside – partners Pete and Chad were beyond amazed and appreciative with the results we saw here. Simply put, it far exceeded what either of us predicted. Not only did we see a drastic increase in foot traffic throughout the year, but we saw many of those first-time guests become regular patrons of our business – whether you were local to Oceanside or visitors that chose to return during your stay here in our beloved community. It quickly transformed into more than just a business exchange, it was the pleasure of seeing your faces, learning your names and building relationships that went beyond just a simple transaction. 

 

As we got deeper into the first quarter of 2025, it became glaringly evident that this year was on an entirely different trajectory. At almost double the size today as we were at this same time last year, we were preparing for what seemed to be an incredible year ahead. In fact, we had already discussed store renovations, staff additions, menu & merchandise enhancements, community-based activations, event participation, etc., etc.  

 

And then we were told our lease would not be renewed. 

 

As a business who prides itself on treating our vendors and business partners with as much professionalism, appreciation and respect as we do our customers, we were shocked and devastated by this news . . . especially considering that nothing had happened previously to give us any indication and/or justification for this decision. It’s difficult to make sense of “punishment” when you’re unclear on what you’re being punished for. But as they say, “what’s done is done” . . . regardless of how it’s done. 

 

As we make the most of our time left in our downtown store and begin to focus forward, we want you all to be clear on how much we valued, appreciated and welcomed you at Alohana Oceanside. You truly helped to make the past two years so memorable for us, our beloved staff and our brand. It wouldn’t have been the same without you. As someone with nearly 50 years of roots in the Oceanside community (former South O Seahawk, Lincoln Panther and Oceanside Pirate), it was a pleasure serving the community that has given so much to me throughout the years. We sincerely thank you for being part of this journey. We only wish we could’ve grown old(er) together. 😊. And although it is someone else’s turn to inhabit the downtown location we’re vacating, please be clear that this new business has nothing to do with Alohana. 

 

With that said, please come visit us at our other locations throughout San Diego and Orange counties. And stay tuned for our newest stores in East Oceanside (Arroyo Grande), Camp Pendleton (Del Mar Beach) and Riverside county (opening soon)!!! We’re eager to see your smiling faces again.
